TEMPORARY DRIVER POSITION – 8-10 Weeks
Do you want to save for a special vacation or a special purchase, but don’t want to commit to a full-time job? Are you available to work full-time day hours for approximately 8-10 weeks? North Oaks Communities is seeking a temporary Driver to fill in for a certain period of time.
The Driver is responsible for the timely and safe transporting of residents to various individual, medical and group activities, office errands, and employee’s transportation as required.
Essential Duties:
1. Picks up and delivers residents to all scheduled destinations and appointments where transportation is needed; such as grocery stores, scheduled trips and back up for door to door as required.
2. Completes a safety check of the car or bus before transporting residents to and from scheduled trips, activities, or appointments.
3. Accurately records vehicle mileage and resident attendance for all scheduled transportation.
4. Completes maintenance and/or security duties as assigned.
5. Provides coverage for valet, screeners and security as needed.
Other Duties:
1. Maintains the cleanliness of the vehicle, inside and out per schedule.
2. Transports vehicle to service locations for routine preventive maintenance on vehicles as scheduled by supervisor.
3. Notifies Director of upcoming maintenance, any problems, any necessary repairs, and vehicle malfunctions.
4. Keeps Director informed of resident’s concerns, problems, or incidents.
5. Makes necessary runs for administration as needed.
6. Maintains all tools, equipment, and supplies in proper condition.
7. Accomplishes all work in the order of priority set by supervisor.
8. Attends all in-service training and education sessions as required.
9. Performs any additional duties as required by Director.
Qualifications:
1. High school education preferred. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
2. Must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license and meet the requirements of the driver selection policy.
3. Must be able to maintain a courteous, friendly, and helpful attitude with the residents at all times.
4. Must be able to interpret and follow map directions.
5. Must be able to operate a smart phone for communication and GPS use.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Must be also to sit in a vehicle for up to 6 hours per day; must be able to stoop, bend, stretch and squat to load and unload cargo areas. Perform routine preventive maintenance on vehicles according to schedule. Keep vehicles clean. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds for handling luggage and resident groceries. May be exposed to the elements (rain, snow, cold, heat) for short periods of time. Must have good driving skills in handling vehicles on wet and/or slippery roads.
