Position: Coordinator, Marketing and Content Creation
Reports To: SVP, Strategic Initiatives and Engagement
Status: Exempt
Scope of Position
The Coordinator, Marketing and Content Creation will work to increase the awareness and engagement of the Greater Akron’s Chamber’s strategic priorities; events and programs; and other member benefits. This individual will play a key role in the organization’s ability to effectively communicate the Chamber’s work to target audiences by leveraging various communication channels, including social media, podcasts, emails, websites, etc.
Essential Functions

Manage Content Calendar: Work collaboratively with a team to execute on the content calendar for social media, email communications, website updates, etc. to ensure ongoing and effective communication of the Chamber’s work and benefits for members.
Content Creation and Collection: Work across the organization and with other partners to collect content in each of their areas in alignment with the content calendar. Edit the content as needed to ensure it is written in a uniform way that is on brand with the Chamber’s voice. Original content creation may also be needed at times.
Content Distribution: Share content to targeted audiences through communications channels and formats, including social media, e-newsletters, the website, video and podcasts in accordance with the content calendar. This involves developing and executing the social media posts, the e-newsletter content, and interaction with followers as needed.
Coordinate Podcast and Video Logistics: A key source of content will come in the form of podcasts and video. This role will coordinate the scheduling for the talent for the podcast and the video as well as the sharing of the content in accordance with the content calendar.
Vendor Coordination: When needed, assist with the coordination of vendors who are working to produce marketing materials or providing other communications-related services for the Chamber.
Additional Duties as Assigned: Have the flexibility to assist in various capacities to advance the organization’s efforts to raise awareness, visibility and engagement in the Chamber’s work.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, English, journalism, business, liberal arts or related field
1-3 years of experience in content creation, writing, or marketing/advertising or related field (internships are acceptable experience)
Professional experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn)
Experience with content management systems a plus
Strong verbal communication and writing skills required (a writing sample will be requested), including experience editing the writing of others
Ability to take initiative, think innovatively and be creative
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to handle multiple requests and variety of responsibilities simultaneously

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:

May be required to work more than 8 hours during a workday.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
Occasionally moves office materials and/or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds throughout the office.

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

Must be available to work occasional off-hours.
Must be available during standard business hours.
While this position is based in the GAC’s main office location in Akron, OH, many aspects of this role may be fulfilled through periodic telecommuting as determined appropriate and in conjunction with project supervision.
