Role Profile

The Index Data Processing Platform (IDPS) is a program whose main purpose is to drive improvements across data collection, data management and data governance resulting in improved efficiencies, robustness, and the ability for our business to use our data as an asset by driving both cost savings and revenue opportunities. Some of the outcomes and benefits of this program include:

Data capabilities to build world class multi-asset indices and data & analytics services
Universal data quality profiling and checks as well as Data Policies and Governance
A platform for data discovery, management and cataloguing
Ability to on-board and integrate new business acquisitions more efficiently
Improve operational efficiency through automation
A customized bi-directional packaging and delivery capability

Role Description:

We are looking to fill a Product Owner Manager role which will play an integral role in the ongoing application & data analysis, design, requirements, management, governance, enhancements and maintenance of the data platform which will span a broad range of data and functionality. While constantly driving innovation and working on complex technical and business challenges every day, this team member will provide subject matter expertise and analysis, work closely with business users, manage other BAs, PO’s, PMs and other team members, understand business requirements, profile and map data, and help the team to develop quality technical solutions that are aligned with the business and Platform strategies while ensuring compliance with the organization’s data management standards. In this role, the Business Intelligence Analyst will also be responsible for helping to troubleshoot complex support issues on an as needed basis. This role will be based in Bangalore on the Information Services Technology Team.

Key Responsibilities:

Working with business stakeholders to understand business process, data needs and how they will be using data
Understand use cases and requirements for: Data use cases for integrating and using IDP Data, Data Mapping to the common data model, Data quality and transformation rules, Exception Management rules, User Interface, Business Intelligence dashboards and reports, Analytics use cases such as Predictive and Text Analytics
Initiate, oversee, direct and/or coordinates complex data analysis projects, for single or multiple workstreams
Generate documents and/or presentations summarizing and providing in-depth analysis of IDP Projects
Work with accountable execs and operations teams to obtain an understanding of the various data sources and help to make sure that IDP is used as a central repository for vendor data management
Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the data – Identify any discrepancies in the data and in the event that data is not being captured correctly, work with the appropriate members of the IDP team or BAU support team to resolve the issue and ensure that the data is accurate and the data integrity is maintained
Interact and consult with the appropriate internal and external parties to ensure an understanding of factors that affect the business data and possible sources of variation. Act as an independent consultant, providing guidance in data analysis to members of the extended team including data operations and product teams
Answer pressing business questions by processing requests into visualizations/analyses/insights and be able to concisely deliver the main takeaways in both written and verbal forums
Understand and explain system architecture while maintaining a data dictionary and documentation
Dive into large diverse data sets, uncovering insights, and providing impactful recommendations
Connect the dots across channels through data to provide a holistic view of the data universe within IDP
Work with functional specialists, understand business processes and translate functional specifications into technical requirements
Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
Lead internal teams/task forces as needed
Manage other Business Analysts
Supporting the Product Owner to deliver business projects and initiatives on time and within budget by understanding the business need and responding with the necessary business, systems and data requirements analysis.
Analysis, elicitation, presentation, validation and socialisation of requirements to business and technology stakeholders to ensure all stakeholders have a common understanding of the requirements and the goals/objectives of what needs to be delivered to the business.
Working alongside the respective Technology Product Owner(s) to embed Agile best practices and participating in Agile ceremonies such as backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, sprint planning and review meetings, retrospectives and sprint demonstrations/playback sessions.
Building and maintaining effective, collaborative, credible working relationships and active communication channels with all stakeholders. Be the conduit of information between different teams and responding to questions from any stakeholder credibly.
Performing analysis on existing platforms and databases/sources related to the project to collaborate effectively with Architects and Technical Leads in-house and from 3rd parties, to collaborate on solution options to meet the business requirements.
Works with Business Analysis team members to maintain a business Outcomes backlog, break down Outcomes into high-level epics and stories, provide content during analysis, contribute to the elaboration & acceptance criteria of epics and stories, and lead communication of the epics and stories to the team.
Actively resolve/mitigate risks/issues/events which may affect project delivery and ensuring the expectations by internal and external stakeholders are managed accordingly.
Providing accurate business correspondence and documentation that is coherent, factually and grammatically correct, effective, professional and engaging.
Supporting the QA and UAT teams to ensure thorough understanding of requirements as well as providing advice or clarification on any issues raised during test cycles.
Understands expectations that were set with internal and external customers and recognises when issues/events may affect delivery and takes action to mitigate.

Experience/Skills:

5 years of Business Analyst experience in Business Analytics/Intelligence, Data Analytics or a similar role
Some understanding and knowledge of ETL
Experience working on Data Lakes, Data Warehouses
SQL skills
Expert in thriving in a highly collaborative environment as well as in an independent capacity
Effective data communication skills, possessing the ability to transform large data sets into meaningful dashboards which can be converted into actionable sources of information.
Experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders at a variety of levels
Must knowledge of Equities and/or Fixed Income instruments, related market data, index/benchmark products design, portfolio management and how indices are used by financial institutions.
Strong analysis and requirements gathering skills, both business and systems focussed with the ability to understand relations between data sets, prepare sample data, define and review financial calculations and prepare data mappings.
Experience of performing business analysis for diverse projects which includes preparation and presentation of wireframes, related current and future state business process models and production of business analysis artefacts.
In-depth working experience with Agile and Scrum, with solid, proven experience of performing business analysis activities in a large scalable Agile environment.
Data analysis skills and understanding of how data is sourced, collected, transformed, validated, managed, used, governed and controlled within a data centric organisation. Ability to utilise SQL to query database tables.
Ability to liaise with solution architects and technical leads, development and functional testing stakeholders, both in-house and from 3rd parties to ensure the business need and related requirements are well understood.
Can demonstrate being results oriented, taking ownership on the commitment to successfully deliver outcomes, understanding of business processes and communicating the same to the team, making effective judgement calls to reach well-informed decisions, learning agility and adaptability to new ways of working.
Strong and proven ‘soft’ skills with the ability to communicate requirements in a clear, accurate, concise, engaging and thorough manner to stakeholders across the board.
Solid Microsoft Office, document management (e.g. SharePoint), Visio, Jira and Kanban skills.
Must to have experience in working on capital market projects.
Desirable to have experience SAP HANNA product suites.
Desirable to have experience in working with Sustainable Investment products and data management.
SAP Hana and Data Intelligence Experience a Strong Plus

Work Experience & Education:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
Background in Financial Services Technology preferred

IT Skills:

Expertise with Data integration and Analytics concepts
Data Warehousing and Data Lake understanding and experience
Understanding of Data Modelling, Data Quality and Data Governance concepts and tools

Soft Skills:

Very strong communication, presentation and documentation skills
Agile development processes (SCRUM and Kanban)
Experience with Jira
