About the opportunity
Department Description
The Investment Management, Investment Services & Fund Accounting and Enterprise Technology team provides systems development, implementation and support services for FIL’s global Investment Management businesses across front, mid and back office operations. We support Fund Managers, Research Analysts, Traders and Investment Services Operations in all of FIL’s international locations, including London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
Purpose of your role
As a Senior Business Analyst in GBO, you will have the opportunity to drive the future direction of products in the Cash and Positions/Holdings, corporate action management space in GBO. Cash and Position products maintain the SoD and real time intraday cash and positions view for front office FIL systems like order management, trading, compliance and risk by interacting continuously with accounting, transfer agencies, trading and corporate action system.
This will involve working closely with global stakeholders across to define as well as elicit requirements, create the product backlog in line with product principles, define granular, independently deployable and testable stories, and be the functional gatekeeper for delivery. The role would require you to be hands on with data querying and detailed analysis.
This is a global role which would involve regular and intensive interaction with different Business and Technology Stakeholders across Portfolio management, Trading, Compliance, Data Management, and other Technology teams within and outside GBO. The role is across business functions like Fixed Income, Multi Asset and Equities.
Key Responsibilities
Working with business leads to identify, define, and clarify the scope / issues in terms of systems requirements.
Capture & clarification of business requirements through a range of analysis techniques (data querying, data flow diagrams, gap analysis and work & process flow diagrams)
Ability to run Iteration Planning Meeting to explain requirements to Dev Team
Should act as a bridge between the UK/Ireland/Asia business groups and India Development teams
Identify options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability/feasibility
Hands-on knowledge of PL/SQL for data querying & analysis
Acting as a proxy product owner with the development teams, facilitating open communication between the customer & development team
Driving user acceptance criteria with the customer
Well aware of the AGILE terminologies and should have knowledge of AGILE tools like JIRA, Confluence, etc.
Stay abreast of key emerging products / industry standards in the Business Analysis arena
Well aware of MS Office products like Word, Visio and Excel
Experience and Qualifications
5-7 years relevant business analysis experience with a financial services firm. Experience in Accounting and Post trade Lifecycle or IBOR Graduation in Commerce/Economics or MBA (Finance/Systems) preferred. Clearing 1 or more levels of CFA
Examination would be an added advantage.
Well versed with concepts around mutual funds, stock markets, securities – equity, fixed income and derivatives Knowledge of Messaging Standards like Swift, FPML, FIX etc is desirable Good knowledge of database Exposure to structured software development life-cycle methodology (preferably Agile or Iterative development) Experience of working with multi-cultural teams in a geographically diverse environment
