ETL Data Scientist
Position Profiles: As an integral part of the Global Final Control IT team, the ETL Data Scientist is responsible for the design, development, implementation, management and support of mission- critical enterprise data migration and conversion projects and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and environments. The ETL Data Scientist is responsible for developing globally consistent processes in data migration during Oracle and SAP implementations and ensuring that an auditable and monitored process is in place for managing data migration activities. The ETL Data Scientist is skilled in data migration tools and techniques throughout the lifecycle of an implementation, from pre-implementation planning to go-live and post-go live data archival. As a key element of any ERP project, the ETL Data Scientist provides global services in the areas of data extraction from legacy source systems, develop analytical techniques and scripts to perform data analysis, report on identified process and data related issues, develop interfaces and workflows for data cleansing, monitoring of data migration and cleanup progress as well as supporting of go live data loading. In the post-go live environment, the ETL Data Scientist provides ongoing monitoring of data creation/change to ensure quality of business processes. He/she also supports large scale data extracts and loads as required by the business on an ongoing basis for routine master data maintenance and support the design and construction of data quality reports as prescribed by the business to manage data quality. Working with cross-functional teams, the ETL Data Scientist gathers, documents and submit for approval technical requirements for data analysis and reporting projects. Responsibilities:
Continuous training and self-learning of data migration tools, framework and processes defined by the Global Data IT team.Masters Data tools such as data migration servers and Back Office Associates software, ensuring ongoing technology changes and best practices are continually evaluated and incorporated into the Global Data Services processes.Connect to legacy ERP environments and support pre-implementation evaluation of data risks, working closely with implementation teams on analysis of source systems data.Ensure audit trail is in place for data migration and migrated data is traceable back to the cleanup / data enrichment activities and a clear line of sight to the source legacy systems.Manage a long-term archiving strategy and solution for legacy ERP data to allow legacy ERP systems to be permanently decommissionedManage the development of data analysis scripts and reporting as well as supporting data migration through the development of workflows and online processes for data cleanup.Work closely with SAP & Oracle implementation teams to ensure blueprint is effectively understood and translated into data migration requirements / data concept documents.Creation and use of ETL toolsERP Implementation specific data tasks: o Help define testing & quality assurance measures for data migration projects o Support project specific data migration activities in a rollout or conversion project o Definition of data load plans and alignment with cutover-plans o Definition of data migration templates for each data migration object o Coordination of all data migration steps (extract, transform & load) o Source system data structure and fields analysis o Extract data from legacy systems (database dumps) o Import data from legacy systems into a mapping tool o Help defining selection criteria for each data migration objects in scope o Creation of data migration blueprints (migration concepts, transformation rules, mappings, selection criteria) o Implementation / programming / configuration of transformation rules, structure/field/value-mapping o Monitor progress and quality of data migration, status reporting o Conduct Data loads for different testing phases and go live o Mass uploads / carry out manual migration steps o Generation of error logs that are meaningful to the business o Analysis and correction of data migration errors Required Qualifications:10+ years IT experience with focus on data management and SAP and/or Oracle functional knowledge. Prior experience with ERP implementations is a requirement.Experience with data warehouse implementations preferredProficiency with Back Office Associates (BOA) Data toolsApplication development (.Net or ABAP), SQL and script writing is preferred.Knowledge of Project Management methodologies and principles with prior project management experience.MCA/BE/BSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IS Management or Business Administration preferredStrong analytical capability, process oriented and ability to manage complexityStrong personal initiative, drive, motivated to learn and strong accountabilityStrong knowledge of logical and physical data modeling conceptsDemonstrated ability with ETL toolsAble to travel at least 25%
