The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Childcare Center Director for the Venice Corps Community Center located in Venice, Florida.
Job Summary
Plans, develops, and evaluates the day-to-day operations of the Child Care Center to maintain an environment conducive to the growth and development of children, parents and staff consistent with the philosophy and goals of the Center and the policies of The Salvation Army; promotes the Center in the community and specifically to perspective families; ensures the Center remains in compliance with federal, state, and local licensing, health and fire regulations; leads the program staff in the development and implementation of curriculum that is age appropriate, stimulating and educational. Ensures that the day-to-day operations of the Child Care Center maintains compliance with established policies and procedures and within the established operational budget.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Early Childhood Education.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of curriculum development.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of general management and supervision of personnel.
Ability to teach children Christian values as well as general early childhood education curriculum.
Ability to supervise and monitor the work of Child Care Workers to ensure compliance with accepted teaching practices and techniques.
Ability to serve as a resource of fresh ideas for Child Care Workers in all matters of classroom procedures.
Ability to plan, develop, and implement effective childhood programs and activities.
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with children and staff.
Ability to maintain driving ability according to State, DOT, and Salvation Army policies, procedures, and certifications.
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or a related field,
and
Five years progressively responsible experience teaching early childhood education with a strong emphasis on curriculum development and two years supervision of childcare personnel,
or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs.
Work is performed in a normal child care environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
