Description :
Position Title: Cafeteria Worker
FLSA Classification: Non- Exempt
Reports to: Principal or Assigned Supervisor
Position Description: Prepare and distribute food to students during their lunch period. Maintain the kitchen and lunchroom in a sanitary condition.
Essential Functions:
· Arrange food and beverage items (e.g. placing in steam tables, a la carte trays, filling racks, mobile carts, etc.) for the purpose of making items available to students and staff.
· Clean utensils, equipment, food storage, food preparation and serving areas on a daily basis to maintaining sanitary conditions.
· Inspect food items, work areas, etc. for the purpose of preventing cross-contamination of food borne illnesses (e.g. personal hygiene, proper food temperatures, etc.).
· Monitor students’ food choices for the purpose of meeting mandated nutrition requirements.
· Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance and temperature for the purpose of presenting items that will be accepted by students and/or staff.
· Have knowledge of common safety hazards and necessary safety precautions in order to establish a safe work environment.
· Demonstrate an understanding of the Imagine Schools Six Measures of Excellence in the execution of duties.
· Model positive character virtues and habits. Assist students in developing positive moral and performance character attributes.
· Perform other duties as assigned by Principal/School Leader.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Education: High School Diploma/GED.
· Experience: 6 months related work experience.
· Knowledge, Ability & Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating manuals. Ability to perform the job independently and exercise good judgment when appropriate. Tolerance for all personality types and a passion for working with children. Ability to perform in a sometimes physically demanding and stressful environment and able to remain pleasant and helpful under sometimes-stressful circumstances. Ability to communicate cooperatively and constructively with other staff, students and parents in a multi-cultural environment.
