This position is 1.0 FTE, 9 months per year.
Kentlake High School, which is located in the Sawyer Woods/Covington area, is an inviting, highly personalized “learning community” that supports diverse educational programs and activities in a setting conducive to successful teamwork. Kentlake is designed to accommodate a wide range of educational programs, services, and activities needed to ensure each student’s success in school and preparation for adult life. The school program integrates academic, career, and special needs with an emphasis on “all students are career bound.” Students and staff members are provided access and ease of use of diverse technologies that support teaching and learning to prepare students for future changes in educational requirements and needs.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is part of the KEA bargaining unit. The status of this continuing position may be changed due to special circumstances. We reserve the right to fill this position on a leave replacement or temporary basis if necessary.
ASSIGNMENT: Teaching students in high school (grades 9 – 12) Business & Family Consumer Science education.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Appropriate Washington State Career and Technical Education (vocational) certification in appropriate field required and must be on file prior to beginning work.
REFERRED QUALIPFICATIONS:
Additional experience in related field/subject.
Ability to exhibit multicultural and ethnic understanding and sensitivity with the ability to communicate effectively with all cultural groups in the school community.
English Language Learners (ELL) endorsement.
Experience working with a diverse student population and the specific school demographics preferred.
Candidate must be able to work cooperatively with a team of teachers.
Demonstrated strong communication skills and ability to work with adult learners.
Must maintain positive learning environment and ability to relate to all students, parents and colleagues.
Candidate should be knowledgeable of differing student learning styles and cooperative learning and teaching students of varying abilities.
Must have excellent management skills.
Candidate must be willing to participate in or supervise extracurricular student leadership activities/advisory groups for subject matter outside of school hours.
Must be willing to share professional skills with other staff members.
Prefer candidate with excellent technology skills and can use and incorporate computers/technology into curriculum.
Experience working with middle to high school level students.
