The Opportunity
WSDOT is eager to hire an experienced real estate professional to serve as Acquisition & Relocation Team Lead. Working under the guidelines in the Uniform Relocation Act, this position will facilitate complex property acquisitions and/or facilitate any relocations associated with an acquisition. As the Acquisition & Relocation Team Lead, this position will support and work closely with WSDOT’s fish passage program, working with multiple project engineers and members of their design team to assist in identifying the property needs of WSDOT projects.
What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Acquisition & Relocation Team Lead will:
Apply advanced technical knowledge to conduct successful negotiations, resolve issue, perform research, initiate and/or perform title clearing actions as needed.
Independently review Right of Way (ROW) plans and temporary easement maps, legal descriptions, complex appraisals, complicated ownership structures, detailed ownership agreements and documents, title reports, leases, and other documents related to property ownership.
Develop relocation estimates and perform detailed relocation benefit calculations, monitor relocation activities, and prepare detailed summary relocation reports.
Ensure WSDOT acquisition and relocation assignments are conducted in compliance with the Uniform Relocation Act, WSDOT’s ROW manual, and internal policies and procedures.
Use Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, TRAINS, IRIS, ECM, and other databases to access and review conveyance documents, agreements, real property vouchers, exhibits, relocation estimates, and relocation benefits paid, and other documents necessary to complete acquisitions and relocations.
Assist in resolving simple to complex real estate issues found in the review process.
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
12 months of experience as a Property Acquisition Specialist 3 or 4, OR
Three (3) years of recent (within the last 3 years) title clearing experience, residential & commercial relocation experience, or real estate acquisition experience.
In addition to:
Current driver’s license
Current state of Washington Notary Stamp license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Proficient with computer software programs including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro, Adobe, SharePoint, etc.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
Bachelors degree involving a major study in business or public administration, real estate, economics, accounting, or related field.
Knowledge and understanding of WSDOT ROW Manual.

By issuance of proclamation, the Governor of Washington State mandates that all employees who work for executive cabinet agencies (which includes the Department of Transportation) must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The salary listed includes the legislative approved 5% salary premium for positions in King County. An additional general wage increase of 3.25% will be applied for all state employees on July 1, 2022.
