Job Description:
The role is required to support the Chief Flight Instructor in providing the highest standards of training delivery in accordance with current approved syllabuses. You will be responsible for supporting the Chief Flight Instructor in the selection process for the recruitment, induction and training of new employees, and the ongoing standardisation, upskilling, revalidation and renewal of ratings pertaining to all FIs associated with delivering UK and EASA regulated pilot training at the L3Harris Academy in Sanford, Florida. Additionally, you will be required to travel to other locations where L3Harris training is conducted to conduct Standards’ checks and assessments. You will be expected to act as an instructor and examiner if appropriate when your Standards’ duties allow. You will be expected to maintain your qualifications and currency.
Essential Functions:
To establish the highest practicable standard of flying training within the L3Harris Airline Academy.
Working for the Airline Academy Chief Flight Instructor to deliver and maintain training standards and discipline in Academy operations.
Supporting the Chief Flight Instructor to ensure that the instructor team deliver all training to the required standards as directed by policies and procedures set out by the Airline Academy Head of Training.
Working closely with Academy Chief Flight Instructor on all Academy flying training activity, ensuring robust safety management enabled by an effective safety culture.
Support the Chief Flight Instructor to ensure regular standards and safety meetings are held in accordance with the Safety Management Plan and Operations Manual.
Promote and maintain Flight Safety and Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) best practice.
Support the Chief Flight Instructor in monitoring cadet performance.
Monitor instructor licence and ratings validities and advise the Chief Flight Instructor of any revalidation requirements in a timely manner.
Work with the Chief Flight Instructor to ensure flight instructor standardization within the Academy takes place in accordance with Company policies as defined by the Operations Manual.
To act as a Flight Instructor and Examiner when Standards’ duties permit.
Working with the Chief Flight Instructor to ensure that all Training Manuals, Mass Briefing presentations, pre-flight presentations and supporting training documentation are up-to-date and relevant for the flying training operation of the Academy.
Qualifications:
An extensive training background
Significant training management experience
Experience of working within UK CAA and EASA regulatory frameworks
Flight Instructor and Examiner experience
Valid Class 1 Medical
Hold or be able to obtain a UK FIC qualification.
Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL)
Multi Engine Piston Rating (MEP)
Multi Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR)
Ability to work in a high pressured and dynamic environment
A “can do” attitude and able to operate and make decisions in a high pressure business environment
Excellent communication skills
Strong Customer-focused and customer care skills
Strong report writing skills
Self-motivated
Ability to adapt to different learning styles and to differentiate between cadets
