PRIMARY LOCATION: Guardian ad Litem offices, Fort Myers, FL
*Telecommuting/Remote option for qualified individuals.
*Home office must be located in Lee County
*Must have reliable transportation at all times
SCHEDULE: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Mon – Fri – *Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include day, evening and weekend hours, as appropriate.
WAGES: 40 hours per week – $33,072.00 annually
*Vacation & personal/sick pay provided *Reimbursement for work-related travel mileage is available *No additional benefits are provided
*Local candidates only – no relocation assistance provided
Duties and Responsibilities:
10%–Participates in developing the Circuit’s overall volunteer advocate recruiting plan under the supervision of the Circuit Director-20th Judicial Circuit and in coordination with the local Volunteer Recruiting Committee and the affiliated non-profit supporting the program.
20%–Successfully recruit volunteers who can effectively participate in training and are likely to qualify to be certified by the court to represent children who are victims of parental abuse, neglect or abandonment.
25%–Interview and screen prospective volunteer advocates to ensure each meets specified criteria before being referred for training and court certification.
10%–Effectively maximize the use of a range of public communication strategies with the goal of attracting and engaging a steady supply of volunteer advocates. These strategies include, but are not limited to, public speaking, networking, press releases and articles, newsletters, broadcast media, social media and other mass media approaches.
10%–Leverage a variety of community resources with the goal of developing volunteer victim advocate candidate pools, e.g., online recruiting resources, colleges, businesses, governmental entities, and professional organizations.
10%–Maintain accurate and well-ordered documentation on all prospective candidates and the range of utilized strategies; Prepare monthly reports, mileage logs and work documentation.
15%–Participate in orientation and training of newly recruited volunteer advocates.
Required/Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities
–Strong demonstrated public speaking skills
–Strong demonstrated interpersonal communication skills.
–Knowledge in all recruiting components including but not limited to, sourcing, qualifying, assessing, legal and relationship management.
–Ability to develop and maintain a wide network of personal and business contacts to help identify and recruit qualified volunteers.
— Creatively source and attract reliable volunteers by utilizing face-to-face recruiting tactics, internet resources, social media, fairs, partnerships, referrals, cold calling and membership organization attendance.
–Knowledge of media strategies (e.g., newspapers, broadcast media, social media, newsletters) and of how and when to effectively use them for recruiting volunteer advocates.
–Ability to interview potential volunteers and to assess their potential to serve as effective child advocates.
–Ability to encourage and motivate prospective volunteer advocates throughout the orientation and training processes.
–Ability to create and keep a weekly, monthly and annual schedule of events, individual interviews, active and continuous use of strategies that results in an adequate pool of volunteer advocates that matches the needs as outlined by the Circuit Director.
–Ability to maintain proper and well-ordered records of all recruiting activities.
–The ability and willingness to travel both locally and across the region, as appropriate.
–Automobile, Florida driver’s license and auto insurance as required by the State of Florida.
Preferred Education
–Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
